Education That Empowers

New Tech Institute Advantages

Project-Based Learning & STEM Education

As a STEM-certified member of the nationwide New Tech Network, New Tech Institute High School transforms traditional education by using Project-Based and Problem-Based Learning (PBL/PrBL). Our students master the same core content as other high schools across the state, but they learn by doing—tackling authentic, real-world problems that build deeper, more enduring knowledge and skills. To ensure students are fully prepared for their next chapter, we provide robust college and career readiness opportunities, including AP Seminar for all sophomores, expanding college-credit courses, and specialized pathways through our Entrepreneurial Academy and the Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center.

Small, Supportive Environment

We are a small, innovative high school where everyone knows everyone. One advantage of a small school community is that students get to know one another and their teachers very well. Students come in from schools across Evansville and surrounding counties. Every freshman has the same English teacher, the same Social Studies teacher, the same Science teacher, and mostly the same math teacher; this continuity allows our teachers to keep close watch on students’ academic and social/emotional progress, with quick accessibility points for intervention to support students who may experience struggles.

Unique Extra-Curricular Activities

At New Tech, students can explore their passions through a diverse range of extracurriculars, from traditional organizations like Student Council to our state-champion FIRST Robotics Team and our massive Archery program, which engages over 15% of the student body. We empower students with the autonomy to launch their own groups with adult supervision—resulting in unique offerings like the D&D, Art & Gardening, and Micronation clubs—while continually looking to the future with plans to add ESports and revive our Theater program. Whether building a robot for the World Competition, learning life skills on the archery range, or stepping into a leadership role in a student-led club, there is a place for everyone to connect, grow, and succeed.

Opportunities for Involvement & Leadership

Our small, close-knit environment provides students with unparalleled opportunities to lead and make a meaningful impact on both our school and the wider community. From class officers organizing memorable events like Prom to our Student Council raising over $30,000 for Riley Children’s Hospital, our students are consistently stepping up to make a difference. Through hands-on experiences—such as completing community-focused senior projects, mentoring younger students through FIRST Robotics outreach, and competing in local, state, and international Science and Engineering Fairs—our students gain the real-world experience that will confidently set them apart as future leaders.

New Tech Entrepreneurial Academy

All New Tech juniors and seniors fulfill their state graduation pathways through advanced coursework at the Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center or our innovative Entrepreneurial Academy (EA). In the EA program, students plan, launch, and manage their own businesses or community-focused social enterprises with direct mentorship from local experts. By participating in pitch competitions and senior-year internships where they run their own ventures, students gain invaluable real-world business experience. In addition to the opportunity to launch a successful startup before graduation, EA students can also earn up to 24 hours of Ivy Tech college credit.

Focus on Skills Needed for Life After High School

While earning a high school diploma is a critical milestone, we expect our students to graduate with much more. Rather than just talking about "21st-century skills," we actively embed them into our daily learning. We focus on empowering students with the practical abilities that will help them thrive in whatever post-secondary endeavor they pursue. By mastering oral and written communication, practicing dynamic collaboration, and building deep personal agency through resilience and grit, our students graduate fully prepared for the future—and can even earn specialized digital badges to showcase these attributes to colleges and employers.
