New Tech's History
New Tech Institute High School began as an innovative model in the EVSC in August 2010.

We are part of the New Tech Network, which began in 1996 in Napa, California and now includes more than 180 New Tech schools across the country and Australia.

We are known as the Thunderbolts, named after the P-47 Thunderbolt airplanes used in World War II, built just about a mile north of the school during the 1940s.

The first class of New Tech Institute HS students graduated in May 2014.

New Tech was named an Indiana Department of Education STEM-Certified school in 2016 and again in 2021. We were named a New Tech Network Demonstration Site and Exemplary School for three consecutive years, a Battelle for Kinds Partnership for 21st Century Learning School in 2019, and a New Tech Network Spotlight School in 2021. 

New Tech's Mission
New Tech Institute High School is a community where all students are connected and empowered to reach their full potential through engaging and relevant project-based learning and STEM experiences in an atmosphere of collaboration, critical problem-solving, trust, respect, and responsibility.

New Tech's Vision Statement:

New Tech students will:

• Visibly lead and contribute to STEM & entrepreneurial projects connecting the community and the school, and will continue this leadership and contribution as graduates

• Learn through a lens of project-based learning and collaboration

• Value themselves and their peers for their personal, intrinsic worth

• Demonstrate initiative in continuous learning as engaged and active citizens

• Process, analyze, evaluate, and apply information and resources

• Achieve personal success, navigating college, career and civic life

New Tech's Staff will work collaboratively as a Professional Learning Community to inspire students to achieve this vision.
